Calcean is changing the way we look at natural resources and their incorporation into familiar products and industries. Calcean processes biogenic oolitic aragonite, one of the world’s purest forms of the ocean’s naturally precipitated calcium carbonate. Not only is it renewable, but it also provides a number of performance benefits across a variety of industries, including, but not limited to; glass, agriculture, play sand, landscaping sand, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals/nutraceuticals, paints, coatings, bioplastics, and nutrient remediation. Calcean offers oolitic aragonite in its natural granular form (SandyCal) and as a fine powder (OceanCal).

In addition to our GreenCircle Biobased Certification, Calcean has also completed a third-party verified Life Cycle Analysis (ISO 14044) and Carbon Footprint Analysis (ISO 14067). Oolitic aragonite also meets the requirements for LEED 4.1 Sourcing of Raw Materials: Bio-based materials. It is valued at 50% of cost multiplied by the biobased content.
