A panel style discussion on ASSA ABLOY’s use of third-party certification with a focus on the Certified Sustainability Facts (CSF) Label. The discussion starts with a review of where they began, and how the label has evolved with their sustainability story.

We dove into the evolution of the label, examining its history and its recent alignment with the Common Materials Framework. A cross-functional team from ASSA ABLOY provided insights into the label's impact across their areas of expertise. They discussed ASSA ABLOY’s journey with the multi-attribute label, tracing the path of its development and ongoing refinement.

About the Panelists

Erin Spadavecchia

Manager – Sustainable Building Solutions, ASSA ABLOY

Erin Spadavecchia is the Manager – Sustainable Building Solutions at ASSA ABLOY headquartered in the Americas in New Haven, CT. She helps guide their sustainability program, supports regional sales growth, and increases awareness of sustainable openings. Erin has been with ASSA ABLOY since 2014, previously as an Architectural Consultant and Program Manager - Sustainability. She has a Bachelor of Science in Biology/Biotechnology (concentration in Ecology and Environmental Biology) with a minor in Spanish from Worcester Polytechnic Institute in Worcester, MA. She is the Immediate Past President and former President and Vice President of the Construction Specification Institute Metro New York Chapter and is a current member of the mindful MATERIALS Community Working Group.

Dan Glover

Product Manager, ASSA ABLOY

Dan Glover is a Product Manager, ASSA ABLOY Door Group, responsible for coordinating New Product Development of commercial door opening solutions from Concept to Customer.  Dan maintains a Sustainability focus by supporting communications, innovation, prioritization, promotion, documentation (EPD, HPD, LCA, MIR, CR, CEF, CSF etc.), and execution throughout the product lifecycle, supporting ASSA ABLOY and Science Based Target initiatives, driving compliance, certification, and End of Life programs. Dan partnered with ASSA ABLOY Government/Military Business Development, DoD, NOBLIS, FBI, NASA representatives to conduct “Before and After” S.T.E.D demonstrations at 5 US Military Bases.   Program results:   ASSA ABLOY can provide a more sustainable energy efficient openings with third party verified energy savings, to minimize energy cost and lower cost of ownership. 

Martin N. (Marty) Similuk

Regional Architectural Manager, ASSA ABLOY

Marty Similuk is Regional Architectural Manager - Mid Atlantic for ASSA ABLOY Door Security Solutions headquartered in New Haven, CT. He leads a large team of architectural specification consultants and specification writers supporting architects with commercial construction specifications for Division 8 and 28.

Marty is a company champion for sustainability with the goal of promoting ASSA ABLOY sustainable building solutions to meet the demands of local codes, standards, design principles and certification programs including LEED, Living Building Challenge, WELL, Passive House, Design for Freedom and NetZero.
